College Preparation
Throughout sophomore inspire week I learned about myself and what I want in my future, including post secondary schooling. Some qualities that I will look for in my post secondary schools are a competitive environment, an out of state campus, and academic programs the aline with my interests. A best fit school for me will focus on scientific and mathematic academics. At this point in time I am still deciding what I want my life and career to look like but look forward to my future.
Callings
During the past week we also studied callings through readings, discussions, and writing assignments. Every student choose three different career paths, two that intrigued them and one that did not. The three careers I chose were firefight and chef for the two careers that interested me and oil rig operator for the third. I then read an interview about each career that discussed the highs and lows of the work. Then we had a group discussion discussing all we had learned and discovered. My biggest takeaway is not to worry about my future. It seemed in all the story I read and heard about that no matter how much someone prepared or did not prepare for their future everything worked out. All the people interviewed faced challenges throughout their lives but all of them made it through witch brings me comfort in knowing that I will make it through any challenges I face in my career path and life.
Transcripts
As of right now my goals for college are to receive a bachelors degree in fire protection engineering or a related field to hopefully go on to be a fire protection and prevention engineer. To better aline my high school education with my goals for the future I should focus on taking more science and math based classes and less fine arts classes. For science electives I hope to take geology, anatomy, and ecology during my high school career. For math classes I hope to take engineering mathematics: tiny home construction, calculus, and the art of mathematical thinking during my junior and senior high school years.
Yourscience
After reviewing my results from aptitude testing I learned in youscience about myself, what careers, and what schools best fit my skills and personality. To my surprise I had a wide variety of careers that alined with my skills. Fashion designer, historian, geoscientist, and theatrical makeup artist, are just a few examples that shocked me. Some careers that intrigue me are aerospace engineer and operations technician, nuclear engineer, neurologist, nurse partitioner, fine artist, chef, and my favorite fire protection and prevention engineer. I also learned about my aptitudes, I am a great brainstormer meaning I am good at thinking on feet, responding quickly, and enjoy creative work environments with a fast work pace. Another strong aptitude of mine is being an investigator meaning I enjoy processing knowledge and being involved in improving a solution. The third strongest aptitude of mine is being a spacial planner, this means I can typically visualize how to most effectively organize, I am conformable reading blue prints and maps, and finally I am capable of explaining ideas without the use of visual diagrams. The knowledge I gained from observing youscience has prompted me to look into more career ideas than I previously was and gave me the idea for my current first choice career of fire prevention engineer.
