REFLECTIONS
8"x4"x4.5" Catatoo
FANTASTICAL CREATURE: The task for this project was to sculpt a clay creature that was a combination of two real creatures. I chose to combine a cat and cockatoo. The skills I used and learned were sculpting and wedging clay. The media I used was clay. It was arranged in the shape of a cat body and bird head. I used texture to create repetition. The continuous texture covering the creatures body creates repetition because it repeated itself all over the creature. This is important to the artwork because it helps create a more lifelike sculpture. The theme of this artwork is wonder because looking at it makes you wonder what kind of creatures actually exist that you might not know about. Sculpting the body was a successful part of this art because the body had accurate proportions and looked lifelike. A part of this sculpture that needs improvement is the head feathers because they were too thin and broke. I did enjoy the making of this sculpture because I learned how to wedge and sculpt clay. I do enjoy the final product because the sculpture meet all requirements and looks like I planed.

DAY OF THE DEAD SCULPTURE - The task for this project was to create a two foot tall sculpture that represents the day of the dead. The objectives of this project were to learn how to connect an art piece with a holiday and how to build with cardboard. The medias used were cardboard, acrylic paint, tissue paper, hot glue, wood, and spray paint. The key element of art used was color which helped create emphasis on the flowers. The bright colors on the flowers stand out against the white rib cage which creates emphasis. This is important because it draws your eye to the flowers. The purpose of this sculpture was to create an art piece that represent dia de los muertos. In this piece the flowers and painting were successful. The components that need improvement include the proportions between sternum, ribs, and collar bone. I did enjoy the process of making this sculpture because I was able to work with partners and was satisfied with the end product because it was similar to what my group and I had planed.
12'x18 Fruits
STILL LIFE ACRYLIC PAINTING - In this project I was tasked to paint realistic fruits with accurate proportions and colors. I did this by examining a still life of a banana, limes, apples, and an orange. Then sketched it on sketch paper, transferred it to finial paper, and used acrylic paint to color my art. The most important element of art used was color. The use of color helps create a sense of emphasis on the fruit, for example there is emphasis on the banana because it has a very different color from the background and surrounding fruits. The mood of the painting is calm. The peaceful intimate subject creates a calming environment within the art. To improve this piece I could leave room to add shadows to make it look 3 denominational. But overall this painting was successful because It shows accurate proportions and colors. Although I enjoy the final product I did not enjoy the creation process because the color paint I needed was unavailable.

SIX VALUE SCALE PENCIL DRAWING - The task of this project was to use all six values from the six value scale to create a pencil drawing with four textures. The key skill I used most was shading. In the top of the art there is a moon and sphere, lower down are clouds with lightning bolts overlapping each other and the sphere. The key element of art used was space. The use of space shows the principle of design balance, the space above and bellow the subject is a near equal which creates a balance. This is important to the artwork because it supports the idea that the subject is in the sky with nothing below or above it for a long distance. The theme of this drawing is wonder because it makes you think about what lies beyond the storm by showing you the peaceful calming environment above. The shading of the sphere, texture on the, clouds and shading on the lightning bolts was successful. Some areas that can be improved are the composition. Making this drawing was not enjoyable, coming up with my ides and trying to shade were both very tedious tasks. Although I did not enjoy the creation of this piece i do enjoy the end product.
9'x12' Drowning in School
EMOTION DRAWING- The task for this project was to create a drawing that represented how the artist felt on the first day of school. The skills I learned was time management because I had a limited time to create this art piece. The media i used was a pencil and sketchbook paper. The key element of art used was line. The different lines created variety and made the school supplies more recognizable. The story of this drawing is you are over whelmed, and rushed because school has started you feel like you are drowning but there is no one who can save you no mater how hard you try to get their attention. In this piece the most sucessfull elements are the school suplies because they are realistic. So mething that need improvment include the hand and showing depth. I did not enjoy creating this piece of art becasue i was rushed and felt like i did not have enough time to finish. I do not enjoy the final result b
PENELOPE AND THE PIRATES- The task for this project was to create a bookmark based on a favorite of the creator. My objective for this project was to create a bookmark that meet all requirements, for example having a quote. The media used was colored pencils, the composition is the main subject in the center of the piece and the book title on the bottom. The key element of art used in this bookmark was space. The use of space on each side of the mast creates balance, this is important to the artwork because it makes the art more enjoyable to view. The purpose of this bookmark is to represent the book the children's book Penelope and the Pirates. The successful components of this artwork include the mast, cat, flag. crows nest, and boat. Parts of the artwork that need improvement include the sky and quote placement. I did enjoy the process of making this bookmark but do not enjoy the final product, because it did not turn out the way i had hoped.
